Sherlock Holmes humorous newspaper crossword card.
Dr. Watson admired Holmes deeply but just once he would have liked to open his newspaper without finding the crossword already finished.
The card has been designed in collage using a vintage illustration by Sidney Paget from The Adventure of the Stockbroker's Clerk by A. Conan Doyle published in the Strand Magazine 1893. The background is an endpaper from The Greek Commonwealth. Politics & Economics in Fifth-Century Athens (1924).
The image is made using papers carefully cut from well read (often disintegrating) books and assembled by hand to create the photographed/scanned image.
The card is A6 which measures 10 cm wide by 14.8 cm tall.
It is professionally printed with a finished surface on 300 gsm card. The interior is blank for your own message and there is no finish to this so that it is easy to write on with any type of pen or pencil.
Each card comes with a brown linear textured envelope.
